INTRODUCTION

The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) invites Online Applications from eligible and interested candidates for admission to the State Eligibility Test (SET) – 2026. The SET is conducted to determine eligibility for appointment as Assistant Professor in Universities and Colleges situated within the State of Himachal Pradesh.

Applications shall be accepted strictly through online mode only. Applications submitted through any other mode shall be summarily rejected.

The online application link will remain active on the official website www.hppsc.hp.gov.in up to 30 January 2026 (11:59 PM). After this deadline, the application portal shall be disabled automatically.

A. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

HPPSC, being the authorized nodal agency, shall conduct the State Eligibility Test (SET) for determining eligibility for recruitment to Assistant Professor posts.
The examination will be conducted in 22 subjects at examination centres located at Shimla, Solan, Mandi, Kangra (Dharamshala), Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Nahan, Una, Kullu and Chamba, subject to the number of candidates.
Candidates must ensure fulfillment of all eligibility conditions. Admission at every stage shall be purely provisional. Issue of admit card does not confirm final eligibility.
No certificates or documents are required to be sent to HPPSC during application. Incorrect or false information may lead to cancellation of candidature and legal action.
HPPSC shall not verify documents at any stage. SET certificates shall be issued solely on the basis of information submitted online.
Candidates must carefully read instructions available on the HPPSC website before filling the online form. Information once submitted will be treated as final.
Incomplete applications or applications without fee, photograph or signature shall be rejected.
Reservation benefits are applicable only to eligible candidates belonging to Himachal Pradesh.

B. RESERVATION & CATEGORY CONDITIONS

SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/EWS/PWD reservation applies only to Himachal Pradesh candidates.
Reserved category candidates of other States shall be treated as General category.
Fee concession is applicable only to eligible categories of Himachal Pradesh.

D. CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY

General / EWS candidates: Minimum 55% marks in Master’s Degree.
SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PWD: Minimum 50% marks.
Final-year Master’s candidates may apply provisionally.
Ph.D. holders completing Master’s degree before 19.09.1991 get 5% relaxation.
Candidates must appear only in their post-graduation subject.

E. EXEMPTION FROM NET / SET

Candidates awarded Ph.D. degree as per UGC Regulations 2022 are exempted from NET/SET for Assistant Professor recruitment.

SET qualified candidates prior to 01.06.2002 are eligible nationwide. SET qualified after 01.06.2002 are eligible only in the State concerned.

MARKING SCHEME

Each correct answer carries 2 marks.
No negative marking.
No marks for unanswered questions.
Dropped questions will award full marks to all candidates.

HOW TO APPLY

Candidates must apply online through the HPPSC portal by completing One Time Registration (OTR), uploading documents and paying the examination fee online.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Admit card must be downloaded online.
Mobile phones and electronic devices are prohibited.
No rechecking or re-evaluation allowed.
SET results will be published on HPPSC website only.
All disputes fall under Shimla jurisdiction.
