Indian Air Force has invited online applications for the courses commencing in January 2018 for grant of Permanent Commission (PC) / Short Service Commission (SSC) in Ground Duty (Non-technical). Candidates can apply online from 21 Jan 2017 to 17 Feb 2017. All detail like name of the posts, qualification,age limit,how to apply, pay scale etc. are given below...


Branch & Course Number : Ground Duty (Non technical) 


Type of Commission:     
1. PC for Men. Candidates joining as PC officers would continue to serve till the age of superannuation.
2. SSC for Men & Women. The initial tenure for SSC officers in Ground Duty (Non-tech) Branch would be for a period of ten years. An extension of four years may be granted subject to willingness, suitability, service requirements and availability of vacancies.


Age : 20 to 26 years as on 01 Jan 18 i.e. Born between 02 Jan 92 to 01 Jan 98 (both dates inclusive).


Qualification:  Post Graduate Degree in any Science stream / Mathematics / Statistics / Geography/ Computer Applications / Environmental Science / Applied Physics / Oceanography / Meteorology / Agricultural Meteorology / Ecology & Environment / Geo-physics / Environmental Biology with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were studied at Graduation Level with a minimum of 55% marks in both.

2.You are advised to note down Registration number for future correspondence. Candidates are advised to read the notification and the detailed guidelines for filling up online application as given in the website www.careerairforce.nic.in prior to commencement of filling up online applications.


Selection Procedure:All applicants whose applications are submitted by due date will be called for testing at one of the Air Force Selection Boards (AFSBs) at Dehradun, Mysore, Gandhinagar, Varanasi and Kancharapara (for airmen candidates). The testing would consist of three stages as given below:-

(a) Stage-I. Consists of Intelligence Test along with PP&DT, will be conduct ed on the first day. Stage-I test is a screening test and only those who qualify would undergo subsequent testing. All Stage-I qualified candidates would be subjected to document check to ascertain their eligibility for the Meteorology branches applied for. Those candidates who either do not qualify in Stage-I or do not meet the required eligibility criteria would be sent back on the first day itself.
(b) Stage-II. Testing consisting of Psychological, Group Tests and Interview which will be conducted on subsequent days (Five Days).


Training:Training is scheduled to commence in the first week of January 2018. Duration of training
for Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branch is 52 weeks at Air Force Academy.
